Mac's Drive Thru: Savor the Best Burgers in Gainesville

This place changed what I know about hamburgers. When I first moved to Gainesville (2023), I had folks telling me it's great, don't know what you're missing, etc. I thought it was all typical preference stuff, even with the high ratings. Then a coworker took me there and boy howdy, I was hooked and telling people myself! To make a not great but very assured comparison, the greatness of their burgers are akin to Waffle House hash browns, legit.

This place is legendary!! Two full drive-ins rows. Line is usually very long but they are pretty quick. The burger is one of the best in Gainesville!!! The prices aren’t bad. Cokes are great. Service was great. Can’t say enough about this place!!!

Hidden gem! I was passing through the area and noticed a whole lot of cars in line. I said to myself. I bet this is a good place to eat. You can not eat inside here.. It is strictly a drive through. But let me tell you it was worth the weight in line! It was really good food plus it was made just how I like it. If you are in the area, you definitely need to stop here and try their lunch.

Amazing amazing amazing!!! Love this place! I don't review until I have tried something at least 3 times. Third time was just as delicious as the First! When you see a lineup of cars for a couple blocks and foot traffic lines at the window, you know you found that hidden gem of a place!!! I promise I will post pictures next time. I just got so excited these last three trips I didn't think about it until I was done and licking my fingers

Amazing cheeseburgers We drive here every time we are in FL We order extra for the drive south Worth the stop No where to eat there. No tables. Eat and run. Drive thru is fast.

This is the stop for your low cost, comfort food cheeseburgers. The meat falls apart in your mouth, juicy and cooked to perfection. The tomatoes are always perfectly ripe, a perfect amount of lettuce is supplied, with shoe-string like, freshly cooked fries (additional cost). The patties are not thick, so a double cheeseburger would not be a supersized meal. Get the double and leave happy. Delicious! There are two drive-thru lines for vehicles and a walk-up window in the front. There's two benches within the parking lot if you want to eat here and large clean restrooms on the other side. This place is not cash only. There is a sign in the front that says it accepts Visa and other forms of payment ( we did use cash though since we pulled it out of the ATM due to previous reviews saying cash only).

I saw that this place had really high reviews so I had to try it. When we pulled up they had a line of 15 cars which was a good sign. We waited in line for about 20 minutes. We both ordered the double cheeseburger and fries. You can add lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, ketchup or mustard. We thought the burger was delicious and such a great price. Shoestring fries are my favorite, they were crispy but could have used a little more salt. We felt it was definitely worth the wait and will go back again.

We made the drive from Tampa just to get our Mac’s fix and spend the day exploring Gainesville—and yep, it was totally worth it. The prices have definitely gone up since our last visit (whose haven’t?), but the food is still just as crave-worthy. The burger? Fresh, juicy, and everything you want in a classic drive-thru bite. We added a lemonade to our order and were glad we did—it was super refreshing and a great size. At $3.99, it felt a tiny bit steep, especially with no refills, but hey, it hit the spot. Our only gripe? The fries. For $2.99, we were expecting more than what looked like a glorified kids’ size—think McDonald’s $1 fries, but not quite as full. Still tasty, but not really fry-lover approved in the value department. All in all, Mac’s is still a solid go-to for a nostalgic burger run. Just be ready for updated prices and maybe double up on fries if you’re sharing!
